Students have been watching the movie "I Am Sam," and identifying various types of communication as evidenced in the movie.
Time to learn some vocabulary and understand the process of communication. Please see the note taking guides and PPT of notes below.
Wednesday/Thursday, January 18-19, students will observe Sone's example speech and work on developing their own "All About Me" Speech. The speeches will actually focus on three items that express our personalities. Students will bring in those items and share what the audience can learn about them. The next class period, Friday/Monday, students will rehearse their speech for several peers, receiving feedback. We will then have the first 8-10 speeches during the final 40 minutes of class. Remaining speeches will be presented Tuesday/Wednesday, January 24-25. Please see the assignment packet below.
If you missed class Wednesday or Thursday, you can access the personality inventory activity we completed. Go through the activity and then spend a few minutes with the journal response. Make sure you turn it in to Sone or let me know it is in your notebook, so I can grade it.
During the first few days of Oral Communication class, we have been getting to know the expectations of class and getting to know one another. Please see the class contract attached below.
Wednesday/Thursday, January 11/12: students will participate in a personality inventory to determine their personality color. If we have time left in class, we will conduct a team problem solving activity.
Up next: determining our Class Motto through discussion.
